Goals for Students
This course is designed to develop the students ability to utilize mathematical concepts, skills and processes and powers of logical analysis and inquiry. It will provide an understanding of the defined terms and concise symbolic representations and an understanding of the concepts, skills and processes of mathematics.
The course will help to develop in each student a positive attitude toward mathematics and an appreciation of the contribution of mathematics to the progress of civilization. It will furnish a mode of reasoning and problem solving with a capability of using mathematics and mathematical reasoning in practical situations in order for students to function as citizens in todays society. It is also designed to develop an appreciation of the importance and relevance of mathematics as part of the cultural heritage that assists people to utilize relationships that influence their environment and an appreciation of the role of mathematics in mans total environment.
1st 6 Weeks: Mathematics of Finance, Quadratic Functions, Polynomial and Rational Functions
2nd 6 Weeks: Analysis of Equations and Inequalities, Systems of Equations and Inequalities, Reasoning and Geometry
3rd 6 Weeks: Properties of Angles and Chords, Circle Properties, Coordinate Geometry
